HILL Country Report: Romania
With the name deriving from the Latin word “Romanus” (Roman), Romania has surprised many foreign visitors when they encountered “a Latin island in a Slavic sea”, as it is often called due to its predominant Slavic neighbours. A picturesque land, with a steady economic growth in the last years, Romania has become more and more attractive to investors in a variety of domains.
Since 1st of January 2007 Romania is a full member of the European Union. Since 2000, the government has implemented macroeconomic policies which are supportive of growth.
Having a lot to offer in terms of natural resources and having sectors with great potential of development, Romania represents an attractive destination for investors, in the last years these coming mostly from Western Europe.
